NACE MR0175

Today I was eager to know about NACE in piping field. Then I got the details. NACE stands for "National Association of Corrosion Engineers". But the name is eventually changed back a long time ago to NACE International, based on their scope for international arena. Their scope of work includes Technology exchange, publication of corrosion related information and for the advancement in corrosion control.

NACE MR 0175 refers to Sulplide stress cracking resistant metallic materials for oilfield equipments. This also provides a guideline for selection of materials that are resistance to failure in hydrogen sulphide that are used in oil and gas production environment. It also encompasses the selection of valves for production and pipeline service that meet the above standard.
